Beyond the Classroom

Currently, I’m leading a discussion series on “American Politics and Community Today” in Nyack, NY, where I live. This Humanities New York initiative is a reading and discussion program locally sponsored by our amazing Nyack Library. As the scholar-facilitator for the program, I lead about fifteen members of our community in exploring notions of American identity and civic responsibility in fiction, essays, and criticism by Benjamin Kunkel, Ralph Ellison, Danielle Allen, Hannah Arendt, and E.L. Doctorow.

I’m thrilled to be in this position; it’s exactly the kind of thing I want to make even more time for in the future.
